28th-Aug-2006 11:40 am - Mired in mediocrity..
I had my annual Fantasy Football draft last Saturday. It was awesome fun as always with plenty of trash talk and jokes that would make a sailor blush. Typically, I always have a contending team and make the playoffs. This year, my luck may have already run out. I got late picks in all the early rounds and this is what I ended up with.

QB- Matt Hasselbeck
RB- Steven Jackson
RB- Willie Parker
back up RB- Dominic Rhodes
WR- Donald Driver
WR- Joey Galloway
WR- Lavernius Coles
back up WR- Amani Toomer
back up WR- Chad Jackson (rookie from NE)
TE- LJ Smith
K- Neil Rackers
D- Atlanta

It is a 12 team league and looking at the rosters of my rivals, I will be lucky to eke out a .500 season.

On the other hand, I am so excited that football is back. About effin' time.

Must watch for all Dallas Mavericks fans. This is too cute and very funny.

Throwback to old friends and happy times :)

They are probably in Germany right now enjoying the World Cup.
20th-Jun-2006 11:06 pm - Goddamn it !
The Mavs lose. Let the major depressing mood begin.
16th-May-2006 09:32 pm - Oh my god the greatness
Thank you [info]invisibelle for showing me this video. I have fallen in love with Nusrat's music all over again.

Kinna Sona tainu rab ne banaya, dil kare vekhta ravaan

I remember going to his concert in Delhi when I was a teenager. It was the best 500 rupees I have ever spent, period!

Mukh tera sonia, gulaab naalo changaa hai
Nasha teri ankh da, sharaab naalo changaa hai

And what is it with amazingly gifted musicians dying young. Sucks.

I know the Gandhi Indian and Sitting Bull Indian joke is old. This one is still funny to me :)

This is the best scan I could get from the newspaper cartoon.

20th-Apr-2006 03:30 pm - All Dr. Peppers taste the same
No matter what it says on the bottle:

Diet Dr. Pepper, Diet Caffiene Free Dr. Pepper, Diet Cherry Vanila Dr. Pepper or the new Diet Berries and Cream Dr. Pepper(or their regular versions). They all taste the same to me. Not exactly the same, but the flavor of Dr. Pepper is so overpowering that my mediocre taste buds can't differentiate between these varieties.

Also, I totally scored 4 free shaft collars(of combined $10 value) for my company. It must be my charming FOB accent :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [info]invisibelle<3

Have a wonderful birthday!

Many happy returns of the day to my sweetie :)

22nd-Mar-2006 07:27 am - Best 10 dollars I ever spent...

The Sandwich Maker
http://www.epinions.com/pr-Toastmaster_Snackster_289_Indoor_Grill

Perfect for making grilled sandwiches with desi sabji (vegetables) fillings. Any form of cooked potato is usually the best filling. Back in Delhi, I filled the sandwich with sauted peas and jeera which was awesome too. I need to try that one soon. I have hit upon the perfect desi bachelor dinner...and it is healhty too :)

9th-Mar-2006 08:01 am - Do Dil Mil Rahe hain...
On the way to work I heard a version "Do Dil Mil Rahe Hain" from Pardes, which was not sung by Kumar Sanu. The singer was a cross between Sonu Nigam and Rafi and he was really good. It's amazing how different (read better) the song sounds when not sung nasally.

I might have hit upon a brilliant idea. Re-release all of Sanu's hits, but this time let someone else sing it. I wonder how much better the Aashiqui soundtrack (which is already awesome) would sound if Sonu Nigam or Udit Narayan did all the songs.

But then again, if not for Sanu, I'd have been deprived of the most "parody-able" singer of all time. The great Bhappi Lahiri in "Yaar bina chain kahaan re" is a close second :).

A sincere thank you  to [info]invisibelle for reintroducing the Do Dil song to me:

I'll head out on the shop floor now and sing this at the top of my lungs:

"Sanbkon honn raheen hain, Haan sanbkon honn raheen hain,
Khanbaarn Chunpke Chunpke"

-extra Ns thrown in for nasal effect :)
I was driving in to work to day and heard the song "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult. The only thought that comes to my mind is, "Guys, we need more cowbell".

Christopher Walken at his best. Here it is, one of my favorite SNL skits of all time :

"WE GOTTA HAVE MORE COWBELL BABY!"
